ABOUT US

ArdenWood Miniature Schnauzers has produced 24 Champions and several Grand Champions to date with more in the works.  Each year we produce around 3 litters.  The primary purpose of these litters is for us to get our next champion.  Since this operation is not a kennel but rather a loving home environment most puppies will be placed in other homes as pets.

With that in mind, this Web Page is designed to let prospective puppy purchasers get to know a little about our dogs and Miniature Schnauzers in general.

The typical well-bred Miniature Schnauzer is relatively small in size but in no way toyish or delicate. When you pick him up you will discover he is sturdy, heavy, and muscular... a ruggedness combined with the elegance and beauty of a purebred. He makes an excellent companion because he is extremely obedient and quick to learn, is devoted, playful and affectionate. His alertness makes him an excellent guard dog. He is spunky and fearless but not aggressive so that he can run with other dogs. And, like other terriers, he will go to ground to attack vermin of all kinds.

Acceptable Colors:  Miniature Schnauzers come in 3 colors - Black, Black and Silver, and Salt and Pepper.  At ArdenWood we breed primarily Salt and Pepper.  The Schnauzer is a double coated breed and requires grooming at least every 6 weeks.  The dog shown below is in a “show trim”.
