The Process

Please be patient.  The right puppy is rarely ready to go when you are ready to buy.  Get on the list of a reputable breeder.  If you are on more than one list inform the breeders and let them know when you are no longer in the market for a puppy.  Expect the puppies and breeding stock to be health tested.  Expect a 4 generation pedigree.  Expect a health guarantee.

The breeder expects a desirable home for the puppy.

  1. Safely fenced yard

  2. Some one home to care for the dog

  3. Any Children trained and supervised

  4. Vet Care, Grooming, Dental Care, Appropriate Food and Clean Water

  5. 15-year commitment – make a plan in case you die

At ArdenWood we sign a purchase agreement with the new owner.  We are also here as a resource whenever you need us.

ARDENWOOD MINIATURE SCHNAUZERS

Pet Puppy Sales Contract

This puppy is guaranteed to be of good health at the time of sales and for the next 10 days. The buyer will have the dog examined by a veterinarian of his/her choice during that time and if the dog is found to be in unsatisfactory health and written documentation is provided to confirm a health problem the Seller shall, upon return of the live dog and all papers, refund 100% of the purchase price.

All adult miniature schnauzers at ArdenWood have been tested according to recommendations of the American Miniature Schnauzer Club with results validated in the Canine Health Information Center database. CHIC records results of eye testing (CERF) and Heart Testing and these may be viewed at http://www.caninehealthinfo.org/. All puppies are given a CERF exam at 8 weeks but dogs must be at least one year of age for the heart test.

This puppy is guaranteed to be free of any hereditary crippling/disabling defects for five years, and if a hereditary problem should develop and be verified by two veterinarians (one selected by Buyer and one by Seller) during that time, the puppy owner and seller shall resolve the issue in one of the following ways:

A. The dog will be replaced upon written documentation of the condition provided the live animal and its registration papers are returned to the Seller.

B. Should the Buyer elect to retain the dog after the two veterinarians diagnose a chronic condition which would benefit from treatment and allow the dog an acceptable quality of life then the Seller shall reimburse the Buyer for veterinary expenses not to exceed the purchase price. The Buyer shall provide evidence of such payment to the veterinarian and all additional expenses in excess of the purchase price shall be borne solely by the Buyer.

This miniature schnauzer is being sold as a pet and as such is not to be used for breeding. It is, therefore, sold with limited registration privileges, meaning that no offspring from this dog will be registerable with the American Kennel Club. The dog is eligible to participate in Rally, Obedience or other performance events with the AKC. Buyer agrees to have the puppy neutered at an appropriate time and not before six months of age.

Because of the health testing being done by ArdenWood, the kennel has achieved “Breeder of Merit” status from the AKC. As a part of this program, all puppies are to be registered. To accomplish this the Seller will pay for and submit all registration papers. After the puppy goes home the Seller will contact the Buyer regarding a choice of name. Buyer agrees to use ARDENWOOD in the registered name of the dog - either in prefix or suffix. If no name is selected within a 3 week period the Seller will submit registration papers with a name of the Sellers choice and then AKC will mail registration papers directly to the Buyer.

Should it become necessary to place this dog in a new home at any time during its lifetime the Buyer shall place the dog in an appropriate home, notify the Seller or return it to Seller. For the safety of the dog, it should be micro chipped. If the seller has already micro chipped the puppy the buyer must enroll the puppy in the AKC CAR recovery program.
